
Jessica Michelle Chastain was born on March 24, 1977. She is an American producer, actress and model. Her most famous work is her role in films with female-centric themes. She has won a variety of awards, including an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential individuals worldwide in 2012. Chastain began acting from a young age. In 1998 she made her debut on stage in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent deal by John Wells. She was frequently a guest on numerous television shows and was a part of several stage productions. Following her film debut at the age of 31, in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain was able to make her mark in 2011 , with six films released, including the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). She was nominated for Academy Award nominations as a part in The Help (2011), in which she played an aspirational socialite. Then she appeared in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as an CIA analyst. The most commercially successful films were the science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), as well as the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain received further acclaim for her portrayals of strong-willed women in the dramas The Most violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), and Molly's Game (2017), and in the TV miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (2021). After her role as Tammy Faye Bakker, she received the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21), respectively. Chastain is the founder of the production firm Freckle Films, which was created to promote the inclusion of diverse film makers. She is an investor in the soccer club Angel City FC.
